INTRODUCTION
------------
This primer is designed to help in the everyday operations
of a computer. The contents of this manual are not unique to
any particular software system created by Moonlite
Solutions. Specific instructions are found in the
documentation that is provided with each system. However the
concepts presented in this text are used by every system
available from Moonlite Solutions. In doing this we can
provide the end user with a consistent user interface which
in turn provides for a reduced learning curve.

KEYBOARD STYLES
---------------
There are two types of keyboards being used to date. The
first is the original PC keyboard which can be identified by
the location of the function keys. These keys are labeled
F1, F2, F3 and so on. If these keys are located on the left
side of the keyboard then you are using the old style PC
keyboard. However, if they are located at the top of the
keyboard in a single row, then you are using a new style PC
keyboard.
If you are using an old style keyboard, read page 5 and skip
page 6.
If you are using a new style keyboard, skip page 5 and read
page 6.

SCREEN/KEYBOARD OPERATION
-------------------------
This section will explain how to use the keyboard to
manipulate data on the screen.
- 7 -
FULL SCREEN PROCESSING
----------------------
All of the applications that you will use in conjunction
with this computer system use a process called FULL SCREEN
PROCESSING to enter and update information. Full Screen
Processing allows the user to enter an entire screen of
associated information at a time.
Field Types
Each screen has areas that are underlined, these areas are
called FIELDS. Fields define the starting and ending
positions of the different pieces of information that make
up a screen.
There are two types of fields to a screen. They are
character and numeric fields. A numeric field will have .00
displayed in the right most portion of a field. A field not
having a .00 is a character field.
When entering amounts into numeric fields there are a few
simple rules to follow, they are: NEVER key any number with
a COMMA, DOLLAR SIGN, or PERCENT SIGN. Key only the digits
zero (0) through nine (9) and the decimal point (.). The
following illustration demonstrates how numbers are entered
into a field.
AMOUNT TO BE ENTERED METHOD USED
-----------------------------------------------------
100.00 Key 100 and press ENTER or + key.
-100.00 Key 100 and press - key.
1.88 Key 1.88 and press ENTER or + key.
1,001.01 Key 1001.01 and press ENTER or + key.
75.01% Key 75.01 and press ENTER or + key.
-----------------------------------------------------
The ENTER and Field + keys operate identically when entering
information.
When entering data into a character field, key the
information as you wish for it to appear and press ENTER.
When you have entered data into each field you must transmit
the screen you are working with to the computer for
processing and storage. To do this you press and hold the
CTRL key and press the ENTER key. This is referred to as
CTRL & ENTER.

KEY DEFINITIONS
---------------
When you are working with a screen there are several keys
that have a pre-defined purpose. The following is a
reference table with each key and it's function.
KEY FUNCTION
-----------------------------------------------------
ESC Erase everything in the current field.
HOME Moves the cursor to the first position
of the current field.
END Moves the cursor to the last position of
the current field.
INS Will insert a space into the field, so
that additional information can be
added.
DEL Remove a single character of information
from the current field.
BACKSPACE Will erase the last character you typed.
ENTER Will move you to the next line or entry
field.
<- Moves the cursor one character to the
left.
-> Moves the cursor one character to the
right.
\/ Moves the cursor down to the next field.
If you are at the last field of the
screen the cursor will appear at the
first field.
/\ Moves the cursor to the previous field
on the screen. If you are at the first
field of a |<- screen, the cursor will
move to the last ->| field of the
screen.
----------------------------------------------------
When you see the instruction 'Press ALT & F9' this means
press and hold the key labeled ALT, then press the F9 key
